Hayley Cassidy is the lawyer for the Board and executive of Bank of New Zealand, leads a large team of in-house lawyers, manages the privacy and data ethics functions of the bank, is a Director of the KiwiSaver and Wealth businesses, and is on the BNZ Diversity and Inclusion Council. Hayley has recently completed immersive study at Harvard Business School, and is an experienced and engaging leader.
Stephen Bendall joined ASB in September 2019 as General Counsel and Executive General Manager of Business Services. Stephen’s role includes the leadership of ASB’s Legal Services, Group Governance, Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Affairs and Audit & Assurance teams. Stephen is also ASB’s Company Secretary. Stephen has over 30 years of experience as a qualified lawyer and he has spent the last 24 years working in and advising the financial services industry. He is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. Prior to this role, Stephen was based in the UK as the General Counsel, EMEA, and International Head of Legal for the Japanese banking and financial services group Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG). Stephen worked for 11 years at Deutsche Bank and prior to that was a lawyer at the global law firm Clifford Chance.
David Bricklebank is responsible for legal and corporate governance matters for ANZ and its New Zealand businesses. Before accepting this role, David was Associate General Counsel for ANZ New Zealand since 2012, with responsibilities for Retail, Wealth, Business Banking and the Corporate Centre during that time. Prior to ANZ he has held senior roles, working as Assistant General Counsel at Telecom and working in financial services in London for 10 years, including working for global funds management company Henderson Global Investors.
Larissa Vaughan has extensive experience as a financial services and legal leader having held roles across banking, insurance, managed funds, corporate, regulatory legal, and governance in New Zealand and the UK. In her current role at TSB she is responsible for leading the bank’s legal and regulatory affairs team, with a focus on driving and implementing strategies to ensure good customer experience and outcomes. Larissa’s interest in digital legal inspired her to establish the NZ FinTech Regulatory Roundtable in 2017. She was also instrumental in Kiwi Wealth gaining the first robo-advice license in NZ in 2018. As CEO at Kiwi Insurance she led the Conduct & Culture Programme in 2019.
