FinTechNZ News: The countdown is on for the Hui…

Kia ora,

As I write this newsletter, the Hui is now just 11 days away, and the team and I are excited for what is shaping up to be our most ambitious and influential conference yet.

We made the conscious decision to move the Hui to Wellington because it directly supports our board strategy to build stronger startup and scale-up capability, while also bringing us closer to the government helping shape the future of finance.

We have also brought Wellington into the fold through our partnership with the city’s startup hub, Creative HQ. This year, we are integrating founders from their FinTech Lab into our always-popular Startup Pitch Breakfast, proudly brought to you by Kiwibank.

As for the rest of the programme, we have designed a more engaging, interactive main-day format with a stellar line-up of national and international speakers and panellists. Day one also expands the experience with a choose-your-adventure half-day, where you can opt into the new Insights Forum, followed by member-focused Strategy Roundtables, or join fintech site tours.

But we also have serious work to do. The theme, ‘Shaping the Future of Finance’, is not a throwaway line. Many of us believe this is a pivotal moment for Aotearoa New Zealand as we move from an open banking regime toward a pathway to open finance and, ultimately, an open data, digitally enabled economy.

Our job at the Hui is to bring together vision and execution across government, industry, and the wider community so that this future becomes a real opportunity and not a lost opportunity. As you review the theme and agenda, the standout speakers, sponsors, facilitators, and the strong representation across the ecosystem, I invite you to think about how you’ll use the Hui to keep our collective foot on the accelerator, turning conversations into practical action as we shape the future of finance.

You’ll find more on the Hui and other updates from the ecosystem below.

The countdown is on to the FinTechNZ Hui Taumata 2026!
