Join this live, online panel discussion to hear these legendary insurance leaders share experiences from leading during times of uncertainty (such as the Global Financial Crisis and Hurricane Katrina), and offer advice and insights for what’s to come.

The purpose of the discussion is to provide deep and tangible insights for current insurance leaders navigating their companies and people through COVID-19 and the economic aftermath.

We will cover topics such as dealing with the board and shareholders, remaining customer-focussed, leadership, resilience, making tough trade-offs and how to continue to innovate in uncertain times.

Panelists

All three of our panelists have extensive experience in the industry – nearly a century between them – and although they now base themselves in New Zealand, they bring deep insights from all around the world. They all have navigated through uncertain times and also have a passion for innovation and technology to bring the industry forward.

GLENN RENWICK – former CEO, Progressive USA; current Director, UnitedHealthcare

Originally from Dunedin, Glenn Renwick spent 32 years at American insurance giant Progressive, with over 16 of those years as CEO (he is one of the very few kiwis to lead a Fortune 500 company). Glenn was also on the board of global fintech company, Fiserv, for 19 years. Glenn has led through multiple hurricanes, including Katrina, the global financial crisis (GFC) and is currently on the board of a major health care provider and insurer during COVID-19.

JOHN LYON – CEO, Ando Insurance

John has over 40 years of experience in the insurance industry in Ireland, the UK and NZ, with much of that time spent as CEO – first of Lumley (including during the GFC) and now Ando Insurance in New Zealand.

John is a past President of the Insurance Council of New Zealand (and still sits on the Board) and has held a number of other senior executive and governance roles in the industry.

LEE-ANN DU TOIT – Partner, Deloitte NZ

Lee-Ann is a qualified actuary, business leader and a Harvard Business School Alumni with more than twenty years of experience in financial services across South Africa and New Zealand. She has served on numerous executive committees and boards, and is widely recognised for innovation, leading change and new businesses in a large, complex and established organisation.
