Inspiring events InsurTechNZ news and more

#

We are very close to pushing the go button on our Open Finance project which is going to help change the financial landscape to achieve better financial prosperity for every kiwi. There is still some space if you would like to be a partner so please get in touch and have the option to input into the proposal.

The FinTech Hui was a great success and the feedback was so good we will run an InsurTech Hui later in the year, we will be looking for partners and speakers. A few key takeaways from me would be “Insurance is sexy again” and working with incumbents can be difficult but also very rewarding.

Our joint event with AI Forum was excellent with over 270 people registered. We heard from industry experts Grant Frear from Deloitte, Daniel Locke from IMB Bank and Kris De Coussemaker and colleagues from Sandstone Technology, talking about AI, that it is no longer a futuristic ideal and how COVID has accelerated the digital transformation across financial services with a fantastic live example. You can hear the webinar recording here.

Our next event will be on the 13th of May hosted by Forsyth Barr where we will be talking about “The Rise of the small investor” and how WealthTech is enabling change, spaces are filling up quickly so don’t delay.

Techweek is something I always look forward to, the range of diverse topics and themes is just amazing and this year we will be running a number of events so check out the Techweek2021 website for more information.

The Board and I have been working on refreshing our strategy to help focus on what’s important, we will be able to share the headlines soon. We are also continuing to support the discussions on the Free Trade Agreement between New Zealand and the UK which will give FinTech and opportunity to export more as the UK feels the impact of Brexit and COVID.

Finally, the FinTech sector continues to thrive and I am keen to continue the conversation on how we become clear on the narrative of what New Zealand has to offer.

Have a great weekend.
